Tension after youth dies in accident
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Commotion prevailed near the Vengayyana Lake on Old Madras on Monday afternoon following an accident which claimed the life of Naresh Kumar alias Arun Kumar (22), a native of Himachal Pradesh, triggering a protest demo by the public which urged the authorities to take stringent action against the K.R. Puram Traffic Police.
The deceased, who lived in Thambuchetty Palya near K.R. Puram, was riding without a helmet just past noon when the traffic police flagged down his two-wheeler.
Eyewitnesses said he tried to race past them but the police tried to prevent his escape. “Naresh tried to overtake a brick-laden mini lorry to avoid the police. But two constables tried to catch his vehicle. He then lost control, fell under the rear wheels of the lorry and was run over,” an eyewitness said.
