MUMBAI: Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist sees M.S. Dhoni growing into an influential crowd-puller in world cricket.

“One of the greatest compliments people paid to me was that they paid money to watch me play. I can definitely say the same about Dhoni. I’ll pay to watch him play — not just his personal game, but also his role as a leader. I have nothing but praise for him.

“He is a wonderful person and an exciting cricketer,” said Gilchrist.

“It is tough to do the job of a captain and wicketkeeping, given the pressure and expectations from such a passionate nation. I am amazed by Dhoni’s calmness,” he added. — Special Correspondent
