Vijayawada
It’s a combination of different elements First part of the show features traditional ones VIJAYAWADA: ‘Melange of dances’, a combination of Kuchipudi and French contemporary dance ballet, is all set to enthral the connoisseurs of fine arts in the city on Friday at Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram. Hyderabad-based KRKM Memorial Academy of Fine Arts is organising the show in which three main dancers, including Maia Bouthors, A French danseuse, will performance for an hour in the evening. “Melange in French means combination of different elements. The intention of our dance experimentation is to find the right equilibrium in both the art forms, while respecting the identities of Kuchipudi and French contemporary dance. The first part of the show features traditional solos and duet and the second half will portray the combination of both forms,” said Koka Vijayalakshmi, member of the troupe, at a press conference on Wednesday. Paris-based Maia Bouthors, who came to India for an internship, had a dance project in her mind. “She met me in a dance show at Hyderabad and expressed her views. Haleem Shaik, a Kuchipudi dancer and a friend of mine, joined us. Our first performance was in Hyderabad on July 7 and we later performed at Bangalore, Chennai and Guntur. Our show was recorded by the Doordarshan Kendra and it will be telecast soon,” said Ms. Vijayalakshmi. Importance of unity‘Melange of dances’ also brings to fore the importance of unity, as the three main dancers represent different faiths. “I’m a Hindu, Maia a Christian and Haleem Shaik a Muslim. But, our faiths have never been an obstacle, as we shared a common passion for dance,” said Ms. Vijayalakshmi. Putta Jaganmohana Rao, a patron of fine arts, will be the chief guest, while senior journalist Turlapaty Kutumba Rao and Siddhendra Yogi Kuchipudi Kalapeetham principal Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry will be the guests of honour.
