Narrow win for Mizoram school

NEW DELHI: Latanzuala and Joseph scored one goal each as Government Central Higher Secondary School, Mizoram, defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, 2-1 in a pre-quarterfinal league match of the junior category in the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

L.C. Lalchunmuwia netted the solitary goal for the Chandigarh school.

The other match between St. John’s Secondary School, Meghalaya and Scottish Universities Mission Institution, West Bengal, was abandoned due to rain.

In a sub-junior match, Army Boys, Lucknow, thrashed Air Force School, Subroto Park, Delhi, 6-0. The scorers were Robert Metie (3), Lenin Angom, Roel Lepcha, and Bijay Subba.

Government Kolasib High School, Mizoram, beat SAI, Haryana 2-0 in another sub-junior encounter. Lallawmkima and Lalrosanga were the scorers.
