HYDERABAD: Swathi, 18, a domestic help employed by a doctor couple working for NIMS was found dead on the institute’s premises at Punjagutta on Wednesday. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room close to the crèche on the hospital premises suggesting it was a suicide, but the facts were yet to be ascertained, the Punjagutta police said. According to them, Swathi was employed by Chakravarthy and his wife, Ritty Kapur, working as anaesthesiologist and radiologist, respectively, in NIMS, to babysit their 11-month-old daughter. The couple lives at Adarshnagar. The maid used to come to the hospital along with the couple. She would keep the baby in the crèche on NIMS premises and look after her. After the work, the doctor couple would take back their kid and the maid home. Police alertedSwathi came to NIMS in the morning as usual. Around 3.30 p.m., an employee saw Swathi hanging to the ceiling fan in a room close to the crèche. He alerted higher-ups and the police. “When we reached the hospital, Swathi’s body was hanging to the fan with her chunni tied around the neck,” the Punjagutta SI Khaja said. No note was found in the room. Hailing from Mamillagudem village of Nalgonda district, Swathi was working in the doctors’ house for the past 11 months.
