Unclaimed car at Central Station causes flutter
Staff Reporter
It had been left at the parking lot for three days
Chennai: A car parked at the Central Railway Station parking lot for the last three days created a bomb scare on Wednesday morning.
According to M.C. Sarangan, Superintendent of Police, Railways, attendants at the parking grew suspicious when nobody came to take away the car three days after it was parked there.
The police carried out a thorough check of the vehicle and found some files and documents inside. The vehicle belonged to a businessman, who had left for Bangalore by train after parking the vehicle at the parking lot. The police have got in touch with him, Mr. Sarangan said.
Safety drill
In the wake of recent bomb blasts in Delhi, the Railway Police conducted a safety drill at the Perambur Railway Station on Wednesday. “We educated passengers and platform users on how to handle an emergency effectively,” said Mr. Sarangan. A similar drill would be conducted at the Central Station shortly.
