A helping hand for Bihar flood victims

Bangalore: Students of the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), who are part of the Jan Sahyog Foundation, are collecting donations, medicines, food items and clothes to help those affected by the floods in Bihar.

Shah Faizal, coordinator of Jan Sahyog Foundation, said that two days after the Kosi left many districts in Bihar flooded, a group of six students volunteered to go to the affected areas.

“They have been part of the rescue operations. They will return in two days and a second batch will leave on September 20,” he said. The students — Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wasim Ahmed, Sheetal H.K, Ritesh, Shalanki Shashank, Pranav Kumar — will leave by the Yeshwanthpur-Howrah Express on September 20.

Shah Faizal said that the students of MSRIT had contributed Rs. 48,000, and those from the Nagarjuna College of Engineering Rs. 10,000. Those who wish to help the flood victims may transfer money to the Jan Sahyog account (no: 011758107338) in the State Bank of India, or through a demand draft payable at SBI, Salmari (bank code – 3590).
