HUBLI: People are being materialistic and this is leading to deterioration in human values, scholar K.S. Narayanacharya has said.

He was delivering a lecture on “Culture at a crossroads” at a book release function organised by the Dr. D.S. Karki Sahitya Vedike and Sahitya Prakashana of Hubli at the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday.

“Culture doesn’t mean dance or music. It’s lifestyle. Preparing ourselves for self-defence is also culture”, he said.

Sri Raghuvirananda swamiji of Ramakrishna Ashram released Dr. Narayanacharya’s books “Rajasuya Tanda Anartha”, “Rajasuyada Rajakiya”, “Sri Ramavatara Sampurnavadaga”, “Rashtriya Chintanegalu Mattu Paramarshegalu-2” and “Rashtravalokana Mattu Mahabharat Patra Prapancha” on the occasion.

Journalist Patil Puttappa presided over the function. He felicitated Dr. Narayanacharya on behalf of the organisers.
