VIZIANAGARAM: TDP Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has asked youth to strive for upholding virtues and participate in the welfare activities. “The government, with its lopsided policies during its four and half years rule, has made youth ineffective,” Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju said speaking at the district Telugu Yuvatha meeting here on Thursday. He said the government that promised phase-wise prohibition before elections encouraged liquor consumption as a “cost-free scheme” among the youth. ‘Discrimination’Coming down heavily on its deregulation policy on liquor, he said that no government could take wrong decisions if the youth acted with responsibility. He said the government that could not fulfil the promises it made was still offering sops. Expressing concern over selective application of law, the TDP leader said that the local MLA’s men were let off after collecting penalty for travelling on Minister’s railway privilege ticket from Tirupati to Visakhapatnam recently. But, at the same time, the police registered cases against him and other TDP leaders for protesting against rising prices of essential commodities. The government was now protecting hoarders, black marketers and encouraging corruption, he said. The TDP was founded with the sole objective to mitigate the people’s problems and it was the responsibility of the youth to work with dedication for strengthening the party, he added. Several party leaders spoke.
