KOLLAM: The Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC) will hold an agitation on October 6 against the “anti-people policies” of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the State, said NYC general secretary Nedumoncavu Gopalakrishnan. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the NYC leader alleged that the LDF Cabinet had shed its collective responsibility and the government appeared to be averse to development initiatives. While the West Bengal government had taken a liberal attitude towards development-oriented projects such as Special Economic Zones (SEZ), the LDF government in the State was taking a negative approach, he said. The NYC demanded immediate settlement of the Chengara agitation by allocating three acres of land to each family. He said the NYC agitation would comprise three regional movements. NCP State president K. Muraleedharan will inaugurate the central region agitation in the districts of Ernakulam. The agitation in the northern region will be inaugurated by NYC general secretary Praveen Kumar. The stir in the southern region will be inaugurated by NYC leader Binu Pulikandam.
