Colleges sought in coastal areas

MALAPPURAM: The Malabar Islamic Association for Charity and Education (MIACE) has demanded that the State government set up the colleges sanctioned by the Central government in educationally backward districts, in the in the coastal areas of Malappuram and Kasaragod.

Four districts

The districts of Malappuram, Palakkad, Kasaragod and Wayanad have been selected from Kerala among the 374 educationally backward districts where the Central government will soon establish a model college each.

The MIACE also demanded that Muslim fishermen be ensured a quota in education and job appointments.
