APSHRC issues notices to two blood banks
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) has issued notices to two blood banks and two hospitals after taking suo motu cognizance of a media report of an eight-year-old girl getting HIV infection after blood transfusion.
Commission Chairman B. Subhashan Reddy issued notices to P. Ramesh, partner of Rudhira Blood Bank, and T. Mohan Rao, chairman, Kakatiya Blood Bank, both in Hanamkonda, S. Ram Kishan, medical officer, MGM Hospital, Warangal, and the chairman, Rainbow Hospital, Hyderabad. They have been asked to be present in person before the Commission on September 29.
The media report had highlighted how the poor girl from Rajaram village, Station Ghanpur mandal in Warangal district, got infected by HIV after she received blood transfusion. She died subsequently.
In response to the Commission’s notice earlier, the project director of AP State AIDS Control Society and the Warangal District Collector filed their reports.
