dated September 19, 1958: Equal pay

The Government of India have ratified the ILO Convention concerning equal value, an official Press release said in New Delhi on September 16. The convention which was adopted by the International Labour Conference in June, 1951, lays down that “each member shall, by means appropriate to the methods in operation for determining rates of remuneration promote and in so far as is consistent with such methods, ensure the application to all workers of the principle of equal remuneration for men and women workers for the work of equal value.”
