Savouring the delicacy: Aejaz Chotu (right) and Khalid, who won the Shah Ghouse Haleem Maker’s ‘Haleem Khilaney Mein King Kaun’ at Shah Ali Banda on Thursday. — HYDERABAD: Syed Ali Chabutra in the old city was jam-packed, as a haleem-eating competition was organised by Shah Ghouse restaurant on Thursday evening. Fourteen teams, each comprising two persons, participated in the competition where the participants had to feed one another three boxes of haleem within five minutes. Surprisingly, within a minute Aejaz Chotu and his team member Khaled finished off over a kilogram of haleem. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs.5,000 by chief guests Adnan Sajid of Fun and Masti movie fame and Aziz Nasir of The Angrez fame. Enthusiastic crowds cheered for the winners as soon as they gobbled up the haleem. Stiff competition“We are excited to win this contest as there was a lot of stiff competition. This is the second consecutive year that we are participating in such a competition,” said Aejaz Chotu and Khaled. The runners-up -- Javed and Shareef -- finished the haleem in two minutes flat. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs.3,000 while the second runners-up Khadeer and Chand from Kisanbagh were awarded Rs.2,000 cash for finishing the three boxes of haleem in three minutes. The restaurant’s proprietors -- Mohammad Rabbani, Mohammad Ghouse Pasha and Mohammad Irfan -- were also present at the event that was hosted by Radio jockey K.B. Jaani.
