Something to cheer for film buffs

Hyderabadi film buffs are a relieved lot these days. The recent decision of the government to do away with the rule that theatres could sell tickets of new movies at 70 per cent more than the existing rates during the first two weeks of the movie’s release, has received widespread acceptance among diehard movie goers.

Till now, to watch their favourite film, aficionados either had to shell out whatever the theatre-owners charged or had to wait for two or three weeks, till the box office cooled downs a bit, to watch a movie.

For an average movie-goer, however, watching movies in multiplexes continues to be a very costly affair, as they have to cough up Rs. 100 for a ticket.

A film ticket worth Rs. 30 or even Rs. 40 continues to be a pipedream in the twin cities.
