First biography: Speaker of the Constituent Assembly Subash Nembang releasing a book on Maoist leader Prachanda written by Anirban Roy (left). KATHMANDU: The life of Nepal’s Maoist leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has been described in a book by Indian journalist Anirban Roy. The book “Prachanda, the Unknown Revolutionary” was jointly launched in Kathmandu by the author and Speaker of the Constituent Assembly Subhash Nembang. Though the writer had invited Mr. Prachanda to release “his book himself”, he could not as he was “busy” at a Cabinet meeting. Mr. Roy said, “When I was posted to Nepal, Prachanda had already come out of his ’underground life’, and wherever I went, I heard people talking about him. Friends and colleagues across the globe would ask me, ‘have you met Prachanda?’ Even my mother asked me whether I had interviewed him.” He said, “There was not much information about his personal life so I thought of writing a book myself to uncover him.”His book is the first biography on the revolutionary leader. The book, now published in English language will be available in seven languages including Nepali, Hindi, Bengali, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian, Mr. Roy told The Hindu.
