Award for TNCA

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has won a cash award of Rs. 50 lakh for preparing the best pitches and for providing the finest ground during the Indian Premier League.

The TNCA secretary, K.S. Viswanathan, said, here, on Friday, “The chief of the IPL Wickets and Grounds committee, Daljit Singh, recommended the TNCA for the award.”

The M.A. Chidambaram Stadium was the home ground for the Chennai Super Kings.

NCS wins title

Navy Children School (Vishakapatnam) and Gnanadeepa Public School (Karnataka) clinched the boys’ and girls’ under-14 titles respectively in the CBSE South Zone handball tournament at Vels Vidyashram here on Friday.

The results: Boys U-14: final: Navy Children School bt BEL School 16-9. Semifinals: Navy Children School bt Little Rock Indian School 11-10; BEL School bt Citizen Public School 20-4.

Girls U-14: final: Gnanadeepa Public School bt BEL School 11-2. Semifinals: BEL School bt Madagondapalli Model School 6-2; Gnanadeepa Public School bt Vidya Mandir English Medium School 10-3.

Pachaiyappa’s advances

Pachaiyappa’s qualified for the semifinals of the CFA-S. Nagalingam Nadar memorial football tournament with a solitary-goal win over St. Joseph’s here on Friday.

Vigneswaran found the target in the 35th minute.
