Five-member burglary gang busted

NALGONDA: The district police arrested a five-member gang of burglars and recovered two guns, two pistols, four country made bombs, ornaments made of silver and gold, apart from currency notes.
Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar told reporters at Halia police station that two notorious former naxalites - Harjya Naik, 27, and Saidu Naik, 25, - who were involved in 25 to 30 crimes, are key members of the gang.
Native of Batrupalem in Guntur district, both of them worked with Krishnapatti and Guttikonda dalams in 2001-02. The duo met Sakru Naik, 45, and Narasimha Naik, 35, in a jail and formed a team roping in Swami Naik, 30, of Ragundla in Anumula mandal.
The gang burgled houses at five places at gun point in the district, police said.
