Rs. 5,000 a month to family members of Annamacharya Free cellar darshan tickets to couples marrying at Tirumala TIRUMALA: In a major decision, the newly constituted TTD board of trustees in its maiden meeting here on Saturday, unanimously resolved to provide gold-coating to the entire ‘Vaikunta Prakaram’ encircling the main sanctum sanctorum inside the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara. Briefing mediapersons, TTD Chairman D. K. Adikesavulu Naidu said that utmost care would be taken to preserve the rare lithographic treasure available on the walls of the ‘Prakaram’. The meeting resolved to prepare estimates for the mega project, the budget for which will be accepted from select willing donors. Suggestions of eminent religious heads and scholars also will be taken into consideration before embarking on the divine project. Another major decision was to provide financial aid of Rs. 5,000 a month as announced some time back by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to all the surviving 12 family members of the great saint-poet, Tallapakka Annamacharya, who had composed over 34,000 songs in praise of the lord. The board also agreed to sanction Rs. two crore for the purchase of life-saving equipment for the Sri Venkateswsara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS). The management’s decision to provide free cellar darshan tickets to all couples entering into wedlock at Tirumala was endorsed by the board. It was also decided to officially send temple archakas to Chennai to participate in the three-day ‘Subhiksha Yagam’ slated from October 12 with an aim to appease Lord Varuna for copious rain in Tamil Nadu.
