Nariman re-elected Bar Association chief

NEW DELHI: Fali Nariman, senior advocate, was unanimously re-elected president of the Bar Association of India (BAI) for a two-year term in Friday’s elections here.

Representatives of Bar associations from all over the country attended the general council meeting.

Other office-bearers who were unanimously are Lalit Bhasin, honorary general secretary; Anil Divan, associate president, and Prashant Kumar, associate general secretary.

Nine elected vice-presidents are R.K.P. Shankaradass, Soli Sorabjee, Ashok Desai, P.P. Rao, Dipankar Gupta, V.R. Reddy, K.K. Venugopal, Surendra Desai and K.N. Bhat, all senior advocates. Elections were also held for the posts of joint general secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer.

The meeting formally announced the formation of the Senior Advocates Association Forum with M.N. Krishnamani as chairman.
