Andhra Pradesh
The State government has been providing housing to the poor under different schemes and the Indiramma programme. For this, vast extent of land is utilised, which results in unprecedented hike in land prices. In this connection, I suggest to the Government to change the design of the houses from independent to group housing structure, so that accommodation can be provided to more number of people in a limited area. It will save huge investment on purchase of land and the amount can be used to provide housing to some more people. After laying RCC slabs, the structures can be handed over to the beneficiaries and they can be asked to complete the remaining works on their own. Mohd. Nazeeruddin Gandhi Maidan, Eluru Advance booking for unreserved coachesThe decision taken by the Indian Railways to issue tickets to travel in unreserved coaches three days in advance from the date of journey is to be welcomed. It will be of great help to the passengers who need not worry about long queue at the ticket booking counters. The railway staff too will be relieved of burden as the tickets are going to be available in different parts. We, the people of Bapatla, are in confusion, as we don’t know whether the facility of advance booking in counters outside the station is available for us or not. So far, there is no information on display at the railway station here, whereas in Guntur the list of counters was displayed on the railway station premises. I request the railway authorities to make an announcement about it. B.V. Subrahmanya Sastry Bapatla, Guntur district Road in a bad shapeThe road between Tanuku town and Mortha village, of a stretch of 10 km, is giving the vehicle riders a nightmarish experience. As the road is full of potholes and the margins are in a bad shape, it has become unfit for vehicular movement. Further, the recent rains added much damage to the existing shape of roads and turned the situation from bad to worse. The State of the road is a mute witness to the apathy of the authorities towards safety of the travellers. The authorities are requested to take steps at least to fill the potholes. K. Kameswara Rao Mortha, West Godavari district Provide details of local callsBSNL is giving details, including date, time, dialled number, duration of the call and the units in the phone bill for STD and ISD calls. I request the BSNL authorities to make arrangements to give these particulars for local calls too. Knowing the particulars of the local calls, like the dialled number and duration of the call, will be of great help to the subscribers. As the charges are based on the units, subscribers can plan out the usage of telephone and reduce the number of unnecessary calls. G. Bapaiah Gupta Ponnuru, Guntur district
