Vatal for all-party meet

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Condemning the attacks on churches in Karnataka, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj has urged Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to convene a meeting of all-party leaders to take stock of the situation and to discuss the steps to be taken to prevent the recurrence of such violence.

Addressing presspersons in Bangalore on Sunday, Mr. Nagaraj pointed out that the attacks on churches had brought a bad name to the people of the State, which was known for communal harmony.

He urged the Chief Minister to shun his party’s ideology and to provide protection to all communities.

“After taking oath as Chief Minister, it is his duty to be fair to all communities, including minorities,” he remarked and urged him to take suitable steps to instil confidence among members of the Christian community.
