Gangjee is tied 35th

Taipei: Rahil Gangjee signed off with his third over-par card on the trot to finish tied 35th in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters golf tournament here on Sunday.

The Kolkata pro had started well with a two-under 70 before successive rounds of 76 sent him tumbling down the leader-board.

On the final day, Gangjee returned one-over 73 for a four-day total of seven-over 295 and his tied 35th finish earned him $ 3,541.

Lu sets record

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei star Lu Wen-teh enjoyed a memorable home triumph when he won a record fourth Mercuries Taiwan Masters title.

The 45-year-old champion blasted a final round of one-under 71 on way to a winning total of 11-under 277 at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club.

He continued his impressive track record on his home course this week having previously won the event back in 1994 and 1996 before his third success last year.

As a result of his success, Lu walked away with the top prize of $ 100,000. Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant was even-par for the day to finish in second place two strokes behind the winner while Lin Wen-hong of Chinese Taipei posted a 70 for a 282 total to claim the third spot. — PTI
