NEW DELHI: Three goals by H. Lalnufela helped Government Central Higher Secondary School (Mizoram) to a 4-1 victory over NCC, West Bengal and Sikkim, in the quarterfinals of the junior section in the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Sunday. K. Lalawmpuia scored the other goal for the Mizoram team. Santanu Sarkar had put the NCC team in the lead in the fifth minute, but the team could not fight on after taking the match into extra-time at 1-1. In another match in the junior section, Boys Sports Company (Bangalore) defeated Dhekial Higher Secondary School, Golaghat, Assam 4-1 in tie-breaker after the teams were locked goalless at the end of extra time. Jacky Chand Singh, Lakhi Ram Murmu, Kh Tej Kumar Singh and Elvin Kipgen found the target for the Bangalore team. Biren Singh alone was able to score for the loser as Boys goalkeeper Biman Nandi blocked three other attempts. In the sub-junior quarterfinals, Army Boys (Lucknow) handed out a 5-0 defeat to MP Sports College (Dehradun). Pranay Rai (2), Robert Meetei, Bijay Subba and Lenin Angam scored. In another match in the same section, Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Protisthan (BKSP), Dhaka, recorded a 2-1 victory over Sukantanagar Vidyaniketan, West Bengal. Salman Shah scored both the goals for the Dhaka team in the eighth and 22nd minutes. Biki Mallick reduced the margin. — Special Correspondent
