Tudum Debba says MLA has ‘bogus’ ST certificate

‘Suman Rathod got elected on false certificate’

ADILABAD: The Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samiti or the Tudum Debba on Sunday demanded Khanapur MLA Suman Rathod surrender her ‘bogus’ ST certificate and tender resignation as Legislator for having been elected on the false certificate.

This organisation of primitive tribals in Adilabad also demanded increased percentage of reservation for STs in case new communities are included in the list as proposed by the State Government.

Distribute copies

Tudum Debba president Uike Sanjiv and vice president Mesram Jalandhar distributed among pressmen copies of school enrolment of the MLA in Maharashtra and other relevant orders that are taken into account to decide status of a tribal.

These documents, according to the tribal leaders made it clear that Suman Rathod alias Singhtai had studied in a school in Zaroor village in Kinwat Taluka of Nanded district in Maharashtra. She migrated to Adilabad by virtue of her marriage to Ramesh Rathod, the present chairman of Adilabad ZP in 1983, the leaders pointed out.

Having migrated to AP after marriage and not before 1977, the Khanapur MLA cannot be accorded recognition as ST, they added.

Mr. Sanjiv said the Government should not include new communities in the ST list as this move will harm the interests of primitive tribals.
