Brahmavar (Udupi district): K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said on Saturday that the intention behind “janaspandana”, the mass contact programme, was to take the Government to the doorsteps of people every Saturday, barring second Saturdays. Mr. Bhat said that meetings would be held in all hoblis of the district by turns. “Mere collection of petitions by the officers at these meetings will not help. The problems of the aggrieved people should be solved,” he said. Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha said that petitions received at janaspandana would be disposed off in 15 days. A special cells would be opened at Kundapur, Udupi and Karkala, to deal with these petitions, she said.
