Advani: UPA soft-pedalling on terrorism

Special Correspondent

GANDHINAGAR: The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the BJP prime ministerial candidate, L. K. Advani, on Sunday lambasted the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for soft-pedalling on terrorism and assured the people that terrorism would be fought with all its might if his party was returned to power in the coming Parliamentary elections.

Launching the party’s election propaganda in his constituency of Gandhinagar in Gujarat during his day’s visit to the State on Sunday, Mr. Advani appealed to the people to support his party in the coming elections to come out of the problem of living under fear of terror attacks.

He was speaking at a function at Kalol town after receiving the “Swarnim Rathyatra” (The “Golden Gujarat Rathyatra” to celebrate the State’s golden jubilee in 2010). Chief Minister Narendra Modi was also present.

Mr. Advani said among the first acts of the UPA government, after coming to power at the Centre, was to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) sending definite signals to the terror groups about its soft attitude towards the terrorists.
