R. Subhash, who is physically-challenged, looks for tri-cycle and financial help to set up a shop
R. Subhash SANGAREDDY: R Subhash is his early 20s. He is moving around the Collectorate in the past three weeks to meet Collector Peeyush Kumar and sought help from the government to stand on his legs, though he could not do so literally. This time he is lucky to meet the Collector and present his case. Affected with dreaded polio at the age of three, Subhash cannot walk.Wherever he has to go he can only crawl. Having gone to the school with the help of classmates at primary level, he was able to complete his Std. X travelling the seven kilometre distance to high school using share-autos. A native of Gousabad Tanda near Zaheerabad, Subhash was shunted out from the home by parents who are daily wage labourers. May be they could not bear him any more, as their earnings are meagre. Forced out of home, Subhash claims that he is literally begging in the bus stand of Sangareddy to get some earnings. He earns around Rs. 100 a day. But, the zeal to survive on his own and lead a respectable life forced him to think. He approached the Collector requesting to sanction a tri-cycle to move freely and financial assistance to establish a shop. “I will go to my ‘tanda’ or Zaheerabad to establish the shop. Hoping that the Collector will respond positively,” he says with a bright hope to fight back the fate.
