School notes



Events galore: (Above) Students of Sri Vani Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Namakkal, who won prizes in various sports events held at the taluk and district levels. (Below) Students of Rex Senior Secondary School, Udhagamandalam participating in a fancy dress competition.


Winners

M.G. Divya of Sri Vani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thoppanmpatti in Namakkal district won the first place in the 100 m and 200 m event (junior category) at the taluk level athletics meet held here recently. Gopika of the same school bagged the second place in both 100 m and 200 m (Junior category).

In the shot-put senior category, R. Karthika came third.

The school team won the second place in 4x100 m event.

In the boys junior category, Ilayaraja won the second place in 100 m. Hariharan bagged the second place in high jump. C. Prasanth came second in 200 m event. S. Sureshkumar secured the first place in long jump and K. Goutham in discus throw.

The school’s boys team won the second place in the 4x100 m event.

The gymnastic team qualified for the regional level competitions in both junior and senior categories.

In the super senior category, the school team won the third place in cycling. School president V. Natanasabapathi and Principal A. Mathivanan congratulated the winners.

Competition for teachers

Geethanjali School, Erode, recently conducted an inter-school competition for teachers to celebrate Teachers’ Day. A release from the school says, teachers of Jaycees Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Moolapalayam, won the over all championship. Treasure hunt, group singing, music competition, rangoli were some of the events organised at the event that was held on September 6 and 7. Dronacharya 2008 awards were presented to teachers.

Rose Day celebrated

Siddhartha Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Erode, recently celebrated Rose Day. A release from the institution says K.Velavan a doctor at the Erode Cancer Centre participated in the programme. After releasing a booklet, prepared for the occasion, he spoke about the causes and effects of cancer. Correspondent Jaya Bharathi, Principal Mohammad Ghouse and others participated in the programme.

Best teacher award

J. Ramalingam, Head Master of the Government High School, Semmampalayam, has won the State Government’s Dr. Radhakrishnan award for best teacher. A release from the school says Mr. Ramalingam won the award for his exemplary service. Since 1981 the teacher has helped all his students pass in science and mathematics, the release adds.

Fancy dress competition

The Rex Senior Secondary School, Udhagamandalam, organised a fancy dress competition recently. With students from classes one to twelve vying for honours, judges had a tough time deciding the winners. School Correspondent A.M.John Joseph said that such co-curricular activities were conducted to encourage the students to display their talents .The Principal, Janet Sebastian proposed a vote of thanks.
