Letters to the Editor
This refers to the blast in Islamabad which took a toll of over 40 lives. (September 21). It is a grim reminder for the rulers of Pakistan that terrorists can hit the bull’s eye with precision. Like India, Pakistan is also a soft target for terrorists. The rulers of Pakistan, civilian or military, allowed them to grow from strength to strength. It is time the Pakistan administration mustered enough courage to demolish the camps that are training militants. H.P. Murali, Bangalore The ghastly bomb blast outside the Marriott hotel is a warning signal to Pakistan to rein in terror elements in its backyard. It points to the urgent need to evolve a joint mechanism to fight terror in India and Pakistan. J. Anantha Padmanabhan, Srirangam Secessionist and divisive forces still believe in terrorism as a weapon to threaten the ascendancy of popular forces and democratic processes. The blast in Islamabad has the same root and aim as that of Delhi blasts. With leaders in Delhi and Pakistan having committed themselves to continue with the war on terror, a common strategy needs to be implemented to root out terrorism in the sub-continent. S. Raghavan, Chennai The blast is aimed at targeting not only Pakistan but also the international community as the Marriott hotel was heavily packed with foreigners. Pakistan should realise the evil of supporting terror outfits on its soil. Its government should show a political willingness to fight the terror menace and take steps to root out the terror camps in its border with Afghanistan. P. Senthil Saravana Durai, Vazhavallan
