TIRUPATTUR: For the second consecutive year Sri Nandhanam College of Engineering and Technology (SNCET), Tirupattur organised the “My Idea Programme” wherein the students of the college were encouraged to show their innovative and creative ideas on wide range of issues. Vellore Institute of Technology University (VITU) along with Technology Business Incubator and SNCET jointly organised the programme. The programme was for the second, third and fourth year students of various streams of engineering courses. There were a total of 21 participants who expressed their innovative and creative ideas on various issues affecting society, including water pollution, green computing, energy management, wireless data transmitter, solar power compressed air engine and economic analysis of a zero discharge waste water treatment mouse. A panel of three judges allotted marks based on performance. A total of 25 marks were allotted for the objective, 25 marks for proposed ideas and 50 marks for the impact on society. The participants were told to come out with ideas that could benefit the people. Tirupattur Sub Division Sub Collector Hanish Chhabra inaugurated the programme in the presence of Senior Scientist E.Vidyasagaran, who is the main coordinator. The Sub Collector said the problems faced by society was getting complex. Lot of creativity and innovative ideas were required to deal with the problems in society. He said the “My idea Programme” would go a long way to eliminate the lacuna and promote creativity and innovative ideas among youth. Later, the Sub Collector handed over certificates to the participants. P.M.M.Nandagopal, Chairman, SNCET, said education was a backbone for students to become entrepreneurs. Students should always think in terms of starting their own business, which could generate employment opportunities. He requested Hanish Chhabra to take steps to evict the encroachments on the approach route to the college. The college would be willing to adopt the approach road and maintain it. Thiagarajan, Principal, SNCET, and Srinivasan Rao Makhani, Vice-Principal, spoke.
