MAA reaches out to needy artiste

HYDERABAD: The newly-elected body of the Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) on Monday reached out to help a senior artiste and dancer Mukkuraju with financial assistance of nearly Rs. 1 lakh. This includes Rs. 50,000 from MAA, Rs. 25,000 from former Union Minister and producer Dasari Narayana Rao and Rs. 10,000 each from Sukanya, producer of the film ‘Kamli’ directed by K.N.T. Sastry and an NRI from the American Telugu Association.

The cheques were handed over to Mr. Mukkuraju by Mr. Narayana Rao in the presence of MAA president Murali Mohan and several other recently-elected office-bearers. Nearly Rs. 70,000 in financial assistance will go towards the cost of eye surgery for the struggling artiste. Mr. Narayana Rao also announced monthly cheques of Rs. 5,000 from him to help Mr. Mukkuraju.
