HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided to again go to the people, this time, as part of the party’s vigorous two-month long State-wide campaign against corruption in government to be launched from October 2. Mr. Naidu would launch the campaign at Mancherial on that day after visiting the Yellampalli irrigation project, which, the party feels symbolised “unprecedented levels of corruption under the Congress regime”. The project’s estimates were changed overnight benefiting the contractors by Rs. 359 crore and this was pointed out by the Comptroller and Auditor General. A decision on the campaign was taken in the party’s Polit Bureau meeting here on Monday. Briefing press persons about the three-hour-long meeting, the TDP leaders, K. Yerran Naidu, K. Srihari and K. Srinivasulu said almost every project and scheme reeked of corruption and only aimed at benefiting either contractor or Congress worker. Anti-corruption cellIn fact anti-corruption cell will be opened at the party office here to receive calls and complaints from the people. “We have tolerated enough for the last four-and- a half year and we need to put an end to it”. Eight teamsThe party decided to constitute eight teams of three senior leaders each to go round the state and compile cases of corruption. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu would visit projects that have come to be known for corruption, besides touring the districts for three-days in a week. If his earlier 117-day “mee kosam yatra” was for elimination of poverty from the society, this would be for rooting out corruption while exposing the Congress Government. CriticalThe Polit Bureau was critical of the UPA government for failing to check increasing terrorist activities that killed 757 innocent persons in 17 incidents and the price rise in spite of the fact that the prices of crude has come down from 144 US dollars a barrel to 90. It also supported the State Government employees’ demand for 40 per cent interim relief.
