Vijay, Ritesh hit hundreds

HYDERABAD: Centuries by K. Vijay Kumar (100) and Ritesh V. Rao (112) helped Marredpally Blues record a 56-run win over Ekalavya which had to finish on the losing side despite a century by Dhanaji Rao Shinde (113) in the A-division (one-day) league cricket championship here on Monday.

Good knocks by Prasada, Prasad

Openers L.N. Prasada Reddy and Prasad Babu scored half-centuries for South Zone on the first day of the round-robin match against North Zone in the ACA seniors inter-zone (Ranji selection) tournament in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

Prasada Reddy (65, 8x4) and Prasad Babu (65, 9x4) shared a110-run stand.

South Zone was 173 for four when bad light stopped play after tea.

The scores: South Zone 173 for four in 63 overs (L.N. Prasada Reddy 65, Prasad Babu 65) vs. North Zone.

Weightlifting championships

The local SAI STC will organise the all-India inter-SAI STC weightlifting championships at the Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium in Visakhapatnam from September 23 to 26.

About 120 boys and girls will participate in the championships.
