BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday dismissed an appeal by a resident of Shivalli village in Udupi district challenging the acquisition of land by the authorities for widening the Malpe-Molkalmuru State Highway. Ramachandra Kamath and others filed the appeal against a single judge order upholding the decision of the authorities to acquire their lands for the road project. In their appeal, Kamath and others said some of the temples, too, would be affected by the road widening. The Government defended the road widening, saying that it was being taken up in public interest. A Division Bench comprising Justice V. Gopala Gowda and Justice Keshavanarayana dismissed the appeal and upheld the acquisition. Report on TelgiA report on the medical condition of Abdul Kareem Telgi, one of the accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, was submitted to the High Court on Monday. The High Court had called for the report after Telgi, who is, at present, lodged in Central Jail in Bangalore, petitioned it seeking home food. Telgi cited his medical condition for supply of food from his home. Justice Arali Nagaraj, who is hearing the case, adjourned the case to Friday.
