HYDERABAD: The State Government on Tuesday reconstituted the State-level Backward Classes Commission finally, with retired judge Davala Subrahmanyam as its chairman again and continuing V. Krishna Mohan Rao as a member.
Ch. Pandu Ranga and Challakonda Raghuram Prasad are the other two members who have been appointed on the commission under the re-constitution. The chairman and its three members have been appointed for a period three years from the date of their assuming the office.
Mr. Pandu Ranga and Mr. Raghuram Prasad replaced N. Lakshminarayana Mudiraj and Ambati Subba Ro (who left the commission long ago on being appointed as State Commissioner, Right to Information Act). The term of the previous BC commission expired on May 21. Mr. Krishna Mohan Rao who, along with Mr. Justice Subrahmanyam, played a key role in as many as 16 new Backward communities being included in the State list of Backward Classes for reservation benefit in employment and education institutions told The Hindu that applications by 112 other backward communities seeking inclusion in the list were pending with the commission now.
He said the previous commission had completed socio-economic surveys and prepared reports in respect of 36 out of these 112 communities.
