DUTIFUL: D.M. Veerappan, circle head, Punjab National Bank addressing customers in Tiruchi on Monday. — TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi circle of Punjab National Bank (PNB) has netted a profit of Rs.66.1 crore till the end of March 2008. The circle’s deposits stood at Rs. 1,147 crore and advances, Rs. 1,668.57 crores, said Circle Head S. M. Veerappan. Presiding over the customers’ meet organised here on Monday, Mr. Veerappan said that the internet banking services, both for the corporate sector and individual accounts, had gone down well with the customers. Being the simplest banking process, the internet banking services also ensured safe transactions, he said. The PNB was a ‘forerunner’ in the area of financial inclusion scheme, he said. The circle had covered 13 districts in its jurisdiction. The ‘Farmers Training Centre’ being run by the bank at Pillayarpatti in Sivagangai district, exposed the farmers to the latest know-how. Mr. Veerappan said that one ATM would be installed at Coimbatore Junction shortly. Director, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, N. Gopalaswamy; Managing Director, Dhandapani Cements, Subramanian; Principal, M. A. M. College of Engineering, M. A. Maluk Mohammed; and Principal, R. S. K. Higher Secondary School, P. Varadarajan commended the role of the PNB in rendering services for all sections of the society.
