HYDERABAD: The Congress has advised Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to first get the stay obtained in three cases of corruption against him vacated before launching a campaign to expose corruption in the present government, on October 2. Ridiculing Mr. Naidu’s campaign, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Rajahmundry Member of Parliament V. Arun Kumar and Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, at a press conference on Tuesday, said the former had no right to talk about graft, when his government faced similar accusations. Cases against TDPHe said it would be better for Mr. Naidu to first get the stay obtained in connection with the alleged liquor scam and disproportionate assets case vacated. “Let him clear the path for the courts to take up hearing before taking on the Congress,” he pointed out. CBI probeStating that the Congress government had never shied away from ordering judicial probe or writing to the Central Bureau of Investigation to inquire into any allegations, the Congress MP wondered why Mr. Naidu failed to do the same when his government faced serious charges of corruption. Mr. Arun Kumar mocked at the TDP leaders for their failure to use the Right to Information Act (RTI) to get documentary evidence to nail the government. “How many times have these leaders approached the Chief Information Commissioner’s office seeking files to prove their charges,” he questioned. At a separate press conference, APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy alleged that the then TDP government was steeped in corruption charges from which Mr. Naidu tried to wriggle out by knocking at the doors of the courts.
