HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission has directed the Vijayawada Police Commissioner to send a report immediately after a petition was filed before it by Gurvinder Singh Anand, alias Laddu, a remand prisoner at the District Jail, Vijayawada, seeking his release. He contended that the police had now determined that he was not involved in the case of rape and murder of Ayesha Meera as the accusation was pointed to Satyam Babu. SHRC chairperson, B.Subhashan Reddy in an order, said the petitioner would be correct in seeking his release “if the police have already determined that he is not involved in the above case, provided the petitioner is not required to be in jail in connection with any other case. In that event, the Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada City, is obligated to see that his subordinate police officer files a petition before the concerned court enabling the said court to release the petitioner.” He directed the Commissioner of Vijayawada city to report on this aspect immediately as “it relates to personal liberty of the petitioner.” VIJAYAWADA: City Police Commissioner K.V. Rajendranath Reddy stated that they haven’t received any directions from the SHRC so far. The city police did not file even charge sheet against Gurvinder Singh alias Laddu. He was brought for examination through court proceedings. The city police have “speaking order of the court”.
