Corrections and clarifications

* * In a report “Indian Mujahideen men nabbed in Mumbai” (September 25, 2008), there was a reference to a Mr. Gafoor, leading to queries. He is the Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor, a detail that was edited from the fifth paragraph.

* * The last paragraph of a report “Centre should assist Orissa” (September 25, 2008) was “Observing that the Rs.500 interim aid announced by Union Minister Shivraj Patil was not enough, Mr. Advani hoped that a Central team would visit the State soon to assess the damage caused by the flood.” It should have been Rs.500 crore.

* * The fourth paragraph in a report “Victorious Adhiban closest to title” (“Sport”, September 24, 2008) was “Following Adhiban is a nine-player pack comprising Grandmasters Parimarjan Negi, Neelotpal Das and Pravin Thipsay along with Jha …”, while the results column gave it as “11th round: Sriram Jha (8) lost to B. Adhiban (9.5).” Jha’s score should have read as 8.5.
