Somdev Dev Varman loses

NEW DELHI: Somdev Dev Varman lost 1-6, 2-6 to qualifier Gero Kretschmer of Germany in the pre-quarterfinals of the € 30,000 ATP Challenger tennis tournament in Bucharest, Romania, on Thursday.

In doubles, Prakash Amritraj in partnership with Richard Bloomfield of Britain gave a walkover in the quarterfinals to Adrian Cruciat and Florin Mergea of Romania.
