Poompuhar to get facelift

NAGAPATTINAM: The ancient town of Poompuhar, known as Kaveripoompattinam, will soon get a facelift to attract tourists and a master plan is being prepared to provide all amenities on the coast and in the Silappathikaram art gallery and other tourism spots.
M. Jayaraman, Collector, who inspected the tourism spots in Poompuhar recently, said on Thursday that good lighting facilities including high-mast lamps and other amenities would be provided.
A proposal would be sent to the Government soon for its approval for development of the town and cost of estimate was being worked out.
