Santhamurthy stars with eight-wicket haul

CHENNAI: S.S. Santhamurthy scalped eight wickets including a hat-trick to dismiss Magnet CC for 154 before Sri Ranganathan’s unbeaten 100 guided Bharathi SC to an eight-wicket win in a TNCA third division ‘B’ league cricket match.

The scores: Third div. ‘A’: Sridhar CC 198 in 48.5 overs (P.S. Sivarama Krishnan 42, R. Manikandan five for 72) bt Madras Aryan Club 63 in 24.5 overs (R. Rajagopalan five for 31).

Third div. ‘B’: Magnet CC 154 in 37.4 overs (S.S. Santhamurthy eight for 67) lost to Bharathi SC 155 for two in 19.5 overs (Sri Ranganathan 100 n.o.).

Sir Theagaraya RC 99 for nine in 36 overs (V. Ravichandran 42, V. Sasikaran five for 45) lost to Bunts CC 102 for four in 28 overs.

Viswanathan and Thyagarajan triumph

A. Viswanathan and T.N. Thyagarajan won the weekly pair event at the T. Nagar Social Club with a 64.90 per cent playing North-south. S. Krishnan and A. Mahadevan won from the East-West direction with a score of 62.28 per cent.
