Consider plea for park, court tells Corporation

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has requested the Chennai Corporation to consider the request of Lead Club, TNHB Colony, Velachery, for creating a small children’s park on the top of an underground sump, but without in any way affecting the sump.

Disposing of a public interest litigation petition filed by the club, the First Bench comprising the Chief Justice, A.K. Ganguly, and Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla said the court hoped and trusted that the civic body would consider the request of the club in its proper perspective.

The Bench hoped the Corporation might construct a small park for the children of that area as early as possible, preferably within six months. While considering such a children’s park, all the authorities should cooperate with the Chennai Corporation, the Bench said.
