AIADMK will protect interests of Muslims: Jayalalithaa

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Calling upon Muslims to continue to maintain good relationship with AIADMK, the party general secretary Jayalalithaa has said that her party will respect the rights and protect the interests of the community.

“Tamil Nadu never witnessed communal riots whenever the AIADMK was in power, especially when I was the Chief Minister,” she said while participating in an ifthar organised by the party. “AIADMK is the only party that ensured full protection to the Muslim community. The community people should continue to show their affection to the party.”

Ms. Jayalalithaa said though the country was witnessing unwanted incidents elsewhere, communal amity was being maintained in Tamil Nadu.

Former minister Anwar Raja said Muslims benefited immensely under the Chief Ministership of Ms Jayalalithaa.

“She ensured that Dr. Abdul Kalam became the President of the country.”

MDMK general secretary Vaiko, the Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali and minorities wing secretary of the AIADMK Liakat Alikhan participated.
