SUCI appeals for communal harmony

Staff Correspondent

Raichur: Members of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) observed “Jana Ikyata Andolana” here on Saturday to spread the message of communal harmony among people.

Activists, including students, went in a procession from Ambedkar Circle to the tahsildar’s office carrying placards with messages of communal harmony. The activist appealed to the people to respect all religions.

B.R. Aparna, district committee member of the SUCI, who led the protest, said that the State and the Union governments, which were concentrating mainly on the implementation of globalisation and privatisation policies, were trying to divide people in the name of religion.

The people should not succumb to the pressure, she said.

Ms. Aparna said that attacks on Christian prayer halls and churches were continuing. The Government should arrest the persons involved in these attacks, she said.
