Yellampalli water for NTPC plant

Ramagundam to get 7 tmcft by Ugadi

Foundation laid for bridge across rivulet
Rs. 100-cr. for road between Jagtial and Peddapalli

GOPALRAOPET (KARIMNAGAR DT): The lifting of about 7 tmcft of water from the prestigious Sripada Yellampalli project to the NTPC, Ramagundam power plant would be completed by Ugadi festival in 2009, said Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Jeevan Reddy on Saturday.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the construction of a bridge across a rivulet connecting Dharmaram and Peddapalli villages in Gopalraopet village at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore, he said the completion of the first phase of Yellampalli project to lift water to NTPC would stabilise the ayacut under the D-83 canal of the SRSP in the Manthani and Peddapalli regions.

Lack of irrigation

Attributing the backwardness of Telangana region to non-availability of irrigation sources for farmers of the region, he said the State government was taking all measures to execute all projects across rivers Godavari and Krishna. The execution of Pranahita-Chevella lift irrigation project would transform the shape of Telangana with the availability of abundant water for irrigation and drinking requirements.

He said that the proposed road between Jagtial to Peddapalli via Dharmaram at a cost of Rs. 100 crore would be taken up in the early months of 2009. He also assured to lay a road between Ramagundam and Anthargaon at a cost of Rs. 4 crore.

Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao called upon the people to bless the Congress government for launching several welfare schemes for the uplift of the poor.He appealed to the youth to stop migrating to the Gulf countries for doing menial jobs at lesser pay.

He said that there were several employment opportunities in their own villages. Peddapalli MP G. Venkatswamy , Medaram legislator K. Eswar and others were also present.
