MADURAI: “Honey, someone has shrunk my Metroplus!” This was the reaction of many readers when they woke up to a new weekend on Saturday. It was the day when The Hindu Metroplus Weekend took off in the city. The popular supplement, which is a hit in major publication centres of The Hindu, aims to redefine weekend newspaper reading experience. It has been well received by those young at heart. The tabloid provides a variety of eminently readable stuff on a platter for the entire family. It is one more significant development for an ancient city in transition. A two-wheeler rally organised to mark the launch of The Hindu Metroplus Weekend from K. K. Nagar, Race Course and Periyar Bus Stand elicited good response from the younger generation. Copies of the supplement were distributed by volunteers dressed in Weekend T-shirts and sporting caps on the rally route.
