Swati makes it to the silver screen

Cinema calling: Swati gets cast for a major role in the recently released ‘Ashta Chamma’.

They come with twinkle in the eyes and a prayer on lips.

Most of the anchors and artistes who venture out on the small screen come with a dream of making it to their final frontier, the silver screen. Few actually get to realise the dream and while some remain restricted to playing second fiddle or minor ro les, others just struggle trying to understand the realities of the big screen.

But Swati, who anchored the popular show ‘Colours’ with a rare charm, did make it big. With that one major show, she succeeded where many with a much impressive portfolio and hordes of shows and serials to back, failed.

After small but noticeable appearances in films, she gets cast for a major role in the recently released ‘Ashta Chamma’ and the breezy entertaining movie has already made many take cognisance of the pretty girl. Will Swati be able to ride the euphoria and make a mark for herself in movies?

Star anchors

And talking about anchors on Telugu telly, the ever-reliable Suma is also on TV9 these days. The show ‘Panchavataram’ has the ever-reliable anchor know to don different hats and churn out fun does not fail in the present endeavour too. But one wonders why the other star anchors, Jhansi and Udaya Bhanu, are not up to their usual high profile presentations these days.

The whistle girl, Anupama, is expected to be back soon with some shows and the audience does really miss others like Surekha Vani and Swati Maitreyi.
