Software engineer ends life

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Unable to bear the alleged torture from her senior colleagues, a 26-year-old software engineer ended her life by hanging herself at her residence in Tilaknagar police station limits on Thursday.

The police gave her name as Soni. She was a native of Mysore and worked for Nokia. Before taking the extreme step, she wrote four suicide notes, explaining her plight at the workplace.

In the letters, Soni said she faced harassment from two of her seniors.

“Soni was working with Nokia since two years and was staying in a rented house in Jayanagar 9th Block. Though she got many good offers, she decided to remain with Nokia, Sudarshan, her relative, told The Hindu. “Soni’s father Jagadeesh is a senior officer at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in Mysore,” he added.

The Tilak Nagar police said they would initiate action against the two senior colleagues of Soni.
